SD SBBW Military Unit Soldiers Mini Review

This kit was one I never intended on getting nor was I aware of it's existence until I saw it. However, the fact that you got 3 little soldiers for such a cheap price was enough to sell me on this kit. I bought it expecting nothing from the 3 soldiers, and with that, I wasn't at all disappointed at the final products despite it's problems, and with a bit of work, they looked decently presentable.

In this kit, you get 3 military unit soldiers in a small SD box. Each soldier is molded on a single runner, and all three are identical, meaning the soldiers are only molded in one color OOB. Another thing is you only get the visor stickers, so all details of each soldier will have to be painted. Personally, I just painted in selected ares of the gold trim and found it was good enough.

All soldiers have little to no articulation. There are ball joints on the shoulders as well as the feet and that's it. No head, no torso, no legs, no nothing, these things are pretty much bricks, even by SD standards. They each have one halberd, one spear which can be held two ways, and one shield. You can also cut out certain parts of the manual, and combined with a sticker, you can make flags to put on the spear. I haven't bothered because I can't cut, and because it's a permanent addition.

Verdict:

Overall this kit doesn't do much, but at the same time it doesn't ask for anything either. The main draw from this kit is you get 3 small grunt soldiers for a cheap price. The grunts themselves lack articulation and color, however for the price and value, it's understandable. Don't expect anything from this kit, it doesn't ask for any and it only has one goal, which is to give 3 simple grunts that just stand there. These guys are simple and don't do anything more than stand there. I don't recommend just straightbuilding these guys, at least paint some of the gold trim like I did, Gundam Marker will do. Overall, this kit is a great army builder if you can find one, as for a cheap price you get 3 little soldiers, however they will need a bit of work to look at least presentable.

Pros:

- Value, 3 small SD soldiers for a retail price of 432 yen. (!)
- Great for army building due to cheap price.

Cons:

- Kits will need some work to look presentable. (!)
- The soldiers themselves are the definition of a brick, they cannot pose, even for SD standards.
