HGUC Guntank Mini Review

Guntank is actually my least favorite of the original White Base trio, but due to having the HGUC Gundam and Guntank Revives, I needed to get it to complete the White Base trio, especially due to as watching 0079 at the time. Of course, due to having the others as HG's, I needed to get the HGUC Guntank to keep them at the same scale. So I went and bought the kit, and built it in no time.

The Guntank itself is quite a simple kit. It's definitely old, and it shows in some aspects, but honestly for the most part, I think this kit is pretty good. One thing however, is that you'll definitely want to clear the seamlines on the cannons and possibly the arms, if you do that, you have a very good representation of the Guntank. There are quite a few panel lining opportunities here, so bring a Gundam Marker for a better looking Guntank. Proportions however seem a bit off, I think the Guntank should look a bit more squashed for anime accuracy, but I personally prefer the stylised look. You get a pre-molded pilot in the cockpit with no detail, you might want to paint him. In terms of articulation, it fares decently well considering the un-classic design of the MS. While it is a bit limited, I don't think it could get much better in terms of poseability. The kit also uses no stickers, and we all love it when that happens.

Verdict:

The HGUC Guntank isn't the most impressive kit, yet, it's not at all a disappointing one either. It does what it's supposed to do, and doesn't do that much more. If you're expect huge things from this kit, you're might be a bit disappointed, but if you don't, or are just a fan of the Guntank, then give this kit a shot. Even if you're getting this just to go alongside the RX-78-2 and Guncannon Revives, it will serve as a nice companion piece to those excellent kits. If you want a really good, impressive kit of the Guntank, I strongly recommend going for the MG instead, but if you want the HG, it's not a bad choice either.

Pros:

- No stickers used at all. (!)
- Quite a cheap kit.
- Very solid.

Cons:

- Certain seamlines will need some removal.

Neutral:

- Articulation is limited, but it's about as good as you're going to get for a tank anyways.
- Proportions are stylised, and therefore different.
