Jing Le SD SBBW Shin Taishiji Dom Mini Review

If you've seen my Jing Le BB Senshi Freedom Gundam (Gold Parts Ver. ) review, you'd know that I wasn't a big fan of SD's until I tried a few bootlegs out before growing to respect and eventually love them. This was my second of the 3, after that I never bought a bootleg again.

Like other "Legend BB", the Shin Taishiji Dom has a Frame Gundam Mode. The Frame Gundam Mode is the most articulate of all the forms. However, this being an SD, while being a Dom, it's still essentially a brick. This pose is essentially the very limit of the arms, head and legs when it comes to articulation. The weapon comes in 3 parts, which you can mix and match. This is the default mode. He can also store it on his back you want him to do so.

(Yes I know I misassembled the crab wrong, he's assembled right now and has gold paint on him.)

This is the Normal Mode of the Shin Taishiji Dom. It's how he normally appears and looks okay. However, being an SD he is very sticker heavy, maybe slightly more than other SD's. I actually didn't use some stickers because they ripped, ehh i'll eventually convince my mom to buy paint and learn how to paint. The kit also has detail on the feet which can used to stamp stuff if you have an inkpad. This is the other official mode that the weapon the Shin Taishiji Dom comes with. Even though there are 2 official modes, you can still mix match the 3 ones to make more combinations.

The two next modes require that Lobster creature/thing to be taken apart to combine with Taishiji here. Since I don't know the official name, i'm going to call him Mr Zoidberg. Mr Zoidberg comes molded completely in red and has no stickers to fix this, so you'll need gold paint for him to be color-accurate to the anime.

This is the first armored mode. He gains a backpack shell and 2 shields on his shoulders. In this mode Mr Zoidberg has a lot of parts leftover.

This is the second armored mode; You first need to turn his helmet 180 degrees to get helmet with a stronger, meaner look. His shoulder shields move to the backpack, he gets chest armor and lastly a pair of claws. You use Mr Zoidberg completely in this mode, so there aren't any spare parts.

This is Taishiji's...lobster...mobile armor...zoidberg...thing....mode...yeah. Uhm...He has claws...and looks like a crab...I don't know...

Verdict:

So this thing is knockoff, so it should be rated as a knockoff. Well besides the plastic quality and terrible sticker cut-outs. It's a decently made knockoff, and i'm serious. The pegs are actually the right size and need no modification or cutting to fit into the holes they are supposed to go into. Most stickers work, although a few had to be missed due to the placement being off, and the plastic quality is terrible, it erodes too fast and everything starts falling apart due to it. You know that Steel Armor Form? I for the love of god cannot keep everything together. It took me 8 minutes to get it into the neutral pose...8 whole minutes. Everything kept falling apart and boy was it frustrating. But besides that, it's a good knockoff.

Pros:

- Multiple Modes/Forms. (!)
- Comes with a crab MA thing.
- Has Sangokuden armor gimmick for mix & matching with other Sangokuden SD's
- Weapon is customisable with different combinations.
- Feet can leave stamps if you have an inkpad.

Cons:

-Stickers are inaccurately cut. (!)
-Huge ass amount of stickers, and it's still not color accurate OOB. (But that's a flaw that all SD's share I guess...)
-Brick level articulation. (Slightly forgiven for an SD and due to being a Dom)
-The polycaps don't give much articulation, used way to much and keep on popping out.
-Requires alot of paint for detail.
-ABS plastic isn't as high quality as Bandai's PS.
-Plastic loses strength really fast and leads to falling parts.
-Plastic mold might be rushed, leading to chips and holes in the parts. (Can be written off as battle damage.)
